This special playground, established in 2007, was built in memory of Dylan Thomas Mastroianni. Dylan is the son of Scot and Amy Mastroianni, brother to Dominic and Ava. His short life was one that changed the lives of his family forever. Hoping to keep his memory alive, the family decided to have a playground built in Winnebago, Illinois. The playground would not have been possible without the generous donations of time and money from friends, family, community members and local businesses.
The Dylan Mastroianni Memorial Playground is located behind Winnebago High School in the Winnebago Park District Sports Park. The playground is centrally located with soccer, baseball, softball and tennis courts surrounding it.
This first phase of the playground was geared to two to five year old children. The second phase included equipment for kids ages six to twelve.
Our fundraising efforts through the golf outings helped to fund Phases I and II and now support the Winnebago Sports Park and the Dylan Mastroianni Memorial Playground.
